Computer Support Remotely

Although I have been offering Remote Computer Support from the beginning, it has become much easier to take advantage of. Before, I had to come out and set up the software needed to make the connection and make any network adjustments that were needed to ensure proper function. Now, however, all you need to do is simply download a small application that will create the secure connection.

System Requirements: Windows 2000 or newer (includes XP and Vista), 128 MB of RAM, 2 MB of disk space.

Frequently Asked Questions

How secure is this and why?

This is a very safe way to receive the remote help you need. The reason it is so secure is because of the way a connection is created. In order to start the session you need to give me the number that is displayed in the Access Code box under the Share tab. No one can connect remotely to your computer unless they have this radomly generated 12 digid number (that is changed every time the software loads). Once that is done, you will need to press the connect button in order to start the session. Once again, if this doesn't happen, no session can be started. Plus, once a connection is created between my computer and yours, you will be asked to verify that you want to create the session. So, all in all, you have 3 security measures to prevent unwanted use (4 if you count the fact that the program has to be running in the first place). In addition, all the information is encrtpted with 128 bit encryption to ensure your computer is not vulnerable to hacking.

How do I get started?

First, you need to download and run the small 2 MB program.

At the following screen, click the 'Run' button. When you do this, you may get a screen confirming you want to take this action. Be sure you agree to this message.

Once the program is downloaded, you will need to complete the setup process by selecting your language and click 'Next', click the bubble that says 'I accept the agreement' and click 'Next', choose whether or not you want an icon on your desktop and quick launch bar then click 'Next', then click install.

When the install process is complete you will be given the option to run the probram. If you aren't for some reason, or you accidentally select the wrong option, you can find the program under the Start Menu --> All Programs --> CrossLoop and click the CrossLoop icon.

The first screen you will see will be asking you to login or create an account. On the bottom right there is the option 'Skip'. Unless you want to create an account, select this option (recommended).

You will then be presented with something similar to the following screen. Select the 'Share' tab if it is not already there.

Supply me with the Access Code and press the connect button. Click the yes button when the connection is made to confirm that you want to start the connection.

And away we go. You will only need to download this once, for all furture remote service requests you will simply need to start the program.
